Renaissance Banquet Hall
The Renaissance Banquet Hall in Weatherford, Texas was one of my favorite projects. The owner was "stuck" with old metal delivery doors that were hung on the wall and impossible to take down. Once they were painted to look like old wooden doors, they dictated the entire direction for the Banquet Hall. It became a lovely old Renaissance space, just right for weddings and celebrations... very romantic!
Before — The original metal delivery doors
After — The metal doors have been transformed into ancient wooden doors surrounded by stone walls.
Before — The ground floor lobby with its old white elevator (with stairs to the left) before we transformed it
After — The ground floor lobby transformed. People actually reach for the "handle", but it's just paint!
Before — The uninviting lobby stairwell
After — Painted window with scenery in the lobby stairwell. Patrons started using the stairs when they didn't see the elevator anymore and instead saw the inviting stairwell with a beautiful scene out the window... heheheheheeee!
Before — The equally uninviting staircase landing
After — With a painted window, the staircase landing is so much more inviting. People then actually wanted to go up the stairs to look at the window, and didn't complain anymore about the stairs!
Close-up of the painted window (too bad the owner put in uneven lighting, which gives away the secret that it's just paint)
I painted this window to be viewed while descending the stairs. The building in the scene is the old courthouse located on the square where the banquet hall sits.
